More About Emily
I have been a therapist now for nearly 14 years and a pelvic floor therapist for the last 5. I started being a pelvic floor therapist after the birth of my son. Unfortunately, he didn’t come out so easily! This caused substantial tearing, prolapse, along with bowel and bladder issues.
Therefore, I had to go to pelvic floor therapy myself and it was life changing! The clinic that I went to then took me in and helped me get trained to become a pelvic floor therapist myself. I had such great co-workers and an amazing experience. There was another therapist there, a pelvic floor therapist for 20+ years, and she had been really became my mentor and helped me get to where I am today.
I am so passionate about pelvic floor therapy because I have experienced the symptoms myself. I know the dread of needing to be near a bathroom and scared you aren’t going to make it. I understands what it feels like to have prolapse and be terrified that your organs are falling out. That need to be constantly checking to make sure everything is okay and things haven’t progressed. My own experience has really made me dedicate my life to helping people overcome their own symptoms.
I have received advanced training in overactive bladder, urinary urgency and frequency, stress urinary incontinence, pessaries, and pelvic pain. I am also a Pregnancy and Postpartum Certified Exercise Specialist and have taken trainings on birth prep for the pelvic floor, so others don’t have to be in the same situation I was in.
